Bangladesh is always emotionally very active, and so is its population. Majority of us always celebrating some events, or remembering some events. Almost every month, we have something to look forward to. What is the relevance of that with Cloud Computing? It essentially means, Bangladesh is always changing, and now there is a mature Information Technology framework which can act as enabler and accelerator of the same. That is Cloud Computing.
We have seen the Garment Industry revolution, Mobile Phone revolution, and a number of others which impacted our way of living standards, and socio-cultural evolution, continuously. Then comes the freelancers, graduates or non-graduates, developing application using the platform of Odesk or Freelancer.com. Also, number of Universities, and graduating technical and business students are a steady flow. Adding all of these together provides us with a recipe to create a global brand of significant positive impact.
There are nations, who wants to change, but their changes are very slow, as they are no longer considered young nations, rather a “developed” nation or first and second nation. The opportunity in Bangladesh is limitless, and at the same time, impact of anything would be pretty big, I’d say.
After all the table setting, let’s talk about a scenario. We build a set of data centers where high performing compute farm can be operated from, faster network access from “in-country” point-of-presences, on-demand availability of compute and storage resources with supporting backend data, processes, and accessibility of software and tools. We make this available to Universities, Students, Commercial Organizations (including NGOs), and Government. If I need a computer now, I can log in, swipe by card/pay money, and have access to the computer instantaneously. Only thing I have to worry about is being creative, and produce an application to generate money, reduce cost or gain operational efficiency, or fulfilling a singular task of our daily life. This framework is Cloud Computing. I just made our IT infrastructure an on-demand pool of resources, which I can use for however long I want to use, and only pay for what I use.
It is Eid, I can generate my e-commerce through this compute power, I can generate my train and bus tickets using an app, I could provide real time data of who is where with a display, I can create a collaborative video chat ‘crisply’ with my family, I can do more calculation for my bank only for those few days, I can finish my high compute data processing, I can definitely finish my project, and the teachers can complete their student evaluations interactively. Our health record can be automatically shared with the lab, physician and hospital, and we can continue to add information to that. We can do a lot!!
We know everything has a compute cycle, cloud literally enables and empowers that and makes that dynamic and interactive. So, the validity of Cloud Computing is truly imminent!!
Globally this is a phenomena, google, apple, facebook, and more!! We will be starting something shortly, and it would even spread very fast.. after all we have 16 Crore people with 57% cell phone penetration rate. I am looking for the next big victory of Bangladesh in the Brand of Cloud Computing!
Please join us December 6, 7 & 8 at the Digital World 2012 and at our Cloud Camp (www.cloudcamp.org/bangladesh) on December 7th.
