Training Available via Web – For Front End Development

We know there are a number of sites who provide the front-end development of Web and Web-App related technologies. I am starting this thread to gather the sites in one place.

First of all W3c School is a very well known and widely accepted one. The link for that is: http://www.w3schools.com/.

Then you have the basics and advanced training from Shay Howe: http://learn.shayhowe.com/html-css/ and http://learn.shayhowe.com/advanced-html-css/; nicely divided in 10 sessions each.

I will post more as it comes to my attention.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention – The Apps

As they say difficult situations inspire ingenious solutions. We are not sure about the author of this proverbial. It is sometimes ascribed to Plato and it does appear in translations of Plato’s Republic but this proverb has certainly inspires the Apps developer in Bangladesh .

Look at the vigorous speed that the APPS market is shaping up here . Every IT company is aligning themselves with the Mobile App Market which is Almost Double This Year to 45 Billion .

In various reports from the industry analyst it is found that Smartphone users worldwide will download more than 45 billion apps this year, nearly twice the number of apps that were downloaded in 2011, according to new data from the research group Gartner, in a clear sign of just how quickly the demand for apps is growing.

Apple, Google and Microsoft dominate the global app market, with Apple accounting for the largest portion of app downloads in 2012. Gartner projects that there will be about 21 billion apps downloaded from Apple’s App Store this year, a 74% increase from the previous year. Going forward though, Gartner predicts that these companies will see growing competition in the app market from Facebook and Amazon. By 2016, Gartner estimates that there will be more than 300 billion apps downloaded annually, or more than 10 times the amount that were downloaded in 2011. While the appetite for apps will continue to increase, the appetite for paid apps will actually decline as a percentage of overall downloads.

Just 11% of apps downloaded this year will be paid apps, and that number is expected to drop to 7% by 2016. Even those who are paying for apps still aren’t paying very much. The vast majority (87.5%) of paid apps downloaded in 2012 were priced at less than $2.99.

Now most of the new apps Bangladesh will be accessible in English. The Bangladesh local apps will have to be localized and now this gaining huge momentum . This sometimes triggers with events like the Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL ) Cricket’s biggest event ever in Bangladesh. Companies are addressing a certain aspect of life. To This Bangladesh Premier League – BPL T20 application is dedicated to the Cricket Fans across the country and many followers globally.

The BPL is considered the most premium cricket event in the World and all these application, with are user friendly interface, fixtures, standings and unique push notification alerts, it delivers the best cricket experience ever for iPhone and iPod touch and Android for the most demanding fans. Every day there will be upcoming features that will be enabled during each match would include live score, live text and audio commentary and real time ball by ball videos, Live news feed , Individual Team Performance ,Individual Team Member performance etc .

Also cool contest feature like , Win prizes when you enter the BPL contest – get to meet the teams, players and even an all expense paid trip to view the finals of the second BPL event . It has Scratch and Win contests with guaranteed prizes in app purchase, possibly.

Women – They are new generation workforce and equally leaders with innovation

Considering what women can do in any society bear the essential progress of the society. Bangladesh has rich history of women leadership and continue to progress on that path. Obviously we know some numbers, women make up 40% of the workforce (yes in agriculture they are 43%), and in the developing nations there are ~10 million women owned small-medium registered businesses. In Bangladesh, we have rich heritage of women being progressive and lead the path for future, we can go on with a number of them, Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain and Sultan Jahan Begum, and more. However the gender equality and empowerment of women still need some positive push!!

You might wonder why am I writing a few paragraph on women in Mobile App? Ah ha! Two things, women are more than half exceeding the education barrier (yes!), and there are a number of mobile application and initiative to provide women empowerment while the women in developing nations are deemed oppressed. For example, Digital World 2012 had a session for “Take Back the Tech”, where the panelists discussed the women having the powerful information technology to protect and empower themselves, and I found another website “fightback” (http://www.fightbackmobile.com/) which has made a MOBILE APP (oh yeah!) to provide the same to women. I am sure if I do more research, I would find a ton of these up and coming!!

No question women are the new generation workforce, they are the spenders of economy, I would rather say rational spenders, and they are the continuous innovators of the current world..

You can build a Mobile Application with $5,000 – and all set!!

Interesting news article in a local news site (http://wayne.patch.com/articles/residents-found-mobile-application-company#photo-12663438), where Hani Sabsigh built a mobile app to share videos amongst friends using handheld phones, iPhone/Android. The out-of-work enthusiast, trained himself, with books and materials, and after a cost around $5,000 he is all set. He does not intend to develop more, but obviously, with expand his venture. Go Hani!!
